About Get Skill School
Get Skill School is an IT services company in Salem. We build websites and custom software, install and maintain networks and CCTV, set up servers and shared data, fit attendance and access control systems, and service the computers that all of it runs on.
We began in 2007 as a computer training institute, and for most of those nineteen years we did both — taught, and ran the systems for the offices and institutions around us.
Over 15,000 people passed through the training side before we closed it. The training institute is no longer running. Get Skill School today is a services business only: we design, install, repair and maintain IT systems for organisations and homes. If you are looking for classes, we are not the right place any more — and we would rather say so plainly than leave an old page up.
What the teaching years left behind is worth keeping, though. Explaining a network to someone who has never seen one is good practice for explaining it to a client who has to sign off on the cost. We still work that way: plain language, the reasoning shown, no mystery in the invoice.
Every member of the technical team has more than ten years of field experience and holds an international certification in their area. Not one of us learned this job on your equipment.
That matters most when something is unusual. Standard installations anyone can do. It is the site with the three-storey building and the half-finished cabling from a previous contractor where experience is the whole difference.
The person who surveys your site is from the same team that installs it and the same team that comes back for maintenance. Nothing is handed to a subcontractor you have never met.
We survey before we quote. We quote before we work. Parts, licences and labour are listed separately, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and what you could do later instead of now.

We do not price a network, a camera system or a maintenance contract over the phone. Anyone who does has not seen what they are promising to maintain.
If a repair costs more than the machine is worth, if the software you want already exists cheaper, or if the job is outside what we do well, we will tell you. We would rather lose the work than do it badly.
Before any risky work we ask what matters on the machine and back it up. We never promise data recovery — we assess it and give you the realistic chance before you spend anything.
Network diagrams, IP lists, passwords and licence details are handed over to you, not held over you. You own your systems.
The installation is not the end of the relationship. Most of our work comes from organisations we installed for years ago and still look after.
